Joraph Consulting: Recharging Expenses to Consultancy Clients

JoraPh Consulting Ltd specialises in Oracle technology, providing everything from technical architects and experts in the performance tuning field to standard DBA services and overall database health checks.

The company is growing rapidly, with annual revenue and headcount growth exceeding 100%.

Robert Sessford, the Finance Director, explains that the processing of expenses was problematic from the very beginning:

“Even when we had only a handful of staff, I was spending each Saturday processing expenses. The complexity came about because I had to both calculate the VAT and also recharge expenses to client projects.”

“I was manually entering the data, item by item, to Sage Line 50. I found it hard to believe that processing such a small number of expense reports could take a full day once per week. The pain was considerable, not least as I was having to do all the processing myself.”
