Webexpenses shortlisted for EuroCloud 2013 Best Business Impact award

Webexpenses has been selected to compete in the finals of a national award to find Britain’s best cloud computing companies.

A panel of industry experts has selected webexpenses as one of three finalists to compete for the Best Business Impact Award at the forthcoming EuroCloud UK Awards.

The award acts as a showcase for the UK’s vibrant cloud sector; promoting companies who make the most effective and innovative use of web-based tools.

The judges chose webexpenses, not only for the quality of our own expenses management solution, but also for the way the webexpenses team makes use of web based tools such as Google Docs, Trello and Skype.

The judging panel who selected webexpenses from a flood of entries include the great and the good of the UK cloud community including David Blacher, Head of Media and Technology at Baker Tilly and Dr Richard Sykes, chair of the Cloud Industry Forum.

A spokesperson for EuroCloud UK said: “We would like to thank everyone who entered this year’s competition, never has it been more true to say that we wish all could win.

“If what we have seen over the last few weeks is a snapshot of the state of the UK Cloud scene, then it’s a good place to be right now.”

The winner of each of the five categories to be announced at the award ceremony will go through to compete against the best companies throughout Europe. Last year’s UK winner, Ping Identity, went on to win the overall European award.

Webexpenses has a proud history as a cloud computing company, first starting to use the technology in 2001; before the term had even been invented.

In the early years webexpenses faced the challenge of overcoming companies scepticism towards web based software. Until relatively recently software was viewed as something which came on a silver disc and had to be installed onto each and every computer.

But in recent years, largely thanks to the growth of social media, attitudes have changed and cloud computing is now the default way many of us access applications and services.

The EuroCloud UK finalists are decided by an independent panel of judges with the finalists go forward to the Europe-wide EuroCloud Awards, the overall winner being announced at the EuroCloud Congress in Luxembourg on October 15.

Webexpenses will get to here if they’ve made it through at the UK finals ceremony being held in London on Thursday 11 July.
