Route, don't chase

  1. 01Most exceptions start outside AP. Buyers, receivers and budget holders own the usual causes, from old price lists to goods nobody booked in.
  2. 02Set tolerances. Small rounding differences shouldn’t stop an invoice. Large ones should.
  3. 03Count them by reason. The most common reason each month is the process to fix next.

2. Three habits that cut exceptions

  1. Set tolerances. Small rounding differences shouldn’t stop an invoice. Large ones should.
  2. Route, don’t chase. Send each exception to its owner with the difference described, and a deadline.
  3. Count them by reason. The most common reason each month is the process to fix next.
