Webexpenses and Zudello Merge to Build the Finance Platform of the Future

On 22 September 2026, we merged with Zudello to build the AI finops platform for the office of the CFO.

For some time now, Zudello has powered AP automation for our APAC customers. They’ve loved the solution. And we’ve always been impressed by the platform. And so, we’ve taken the next step.

Day to day, nothing changes for you: same product, same team, same contract.

What does change is how much we can offer you. Together, we cover expense management, corporate cards, mileage, accounts payable, order management, contract management and budgeting.

For me, that breadth is so exciting. A world free of financial admin has been our north star since I became CEO in 2025. And bringing Zudello’s automation alongside everything you already do with us is a big step towards it.

What’s changed (and what hasn’t)

Let’s start with what hasn’t changed. Your product doesn’t change, your pricing doesn’t change, your contract doesn’t change. If you’re a Webexpenses customer, you keep using Webexpenses. If you’re a Zudello customer, you keep using Zudello.

Support routing, service levels and who you call when something breaks all stay exactly as they are. Your data stays in the same systems, the same regions, under the same security and privacy commitments.

What does change is what sits behind the two products. Webexpenses brings two decades of trust with finance teams and a direct (and partner route) to market across the UK and APAC.

Zudello brings an automation platform across procurement, accounts payable, order management, contract management and budgeting.

Put together, that’s a materially wider slice of the finance function than either business covered on its own.

Why now

As I see it, there are two big trends in finance software right now.

First, finance leaders want fewer systems. A single-purpose tool for expenses, another for invoices, a third for approvals. Each holds a piece of the picture and none holds the whole thing.

The tech stacks have become unwieldy, and the data is scattered across them. Bringing it together into one coherent view takes time and manual effort.

That’s expensive to run. Point solutions are under pressure from both directions, as ERP and HR platforms add adjacent features and as broader platforms bundle several jobs under one roof.

Second, finance has been slower to adopt automation than most other business functions. And it’s not because the technology wasn’t ready. Finance teams are the custodians of the money, so they’re conservative by design, and they’re right to be.

They don’t just want automation that looks good. They want to see how it reached every answer.

Every result Zudello produces is traceable back to a document, a match and an approval. Which is a large part of why finance teams that are naturally sceptical of new tools have adopted it.

In finance, the most impressive automation is the kind you can check. That’s the reasoning behind this merger. We’ve spent years earning finance teams’ trust in one area. Zudello has built verifiable automation across many. Together, we can offer both.

One solution for the office of the CFO

Right now, many finance leaders run their function across a scattering of disconnected systems.

Expenses in one place. Accounts payable in another. Contracts somewhere else again. The ambition behind bringing Webexpenses and Zudello together is a solution that pulls the useful bits out of those systems and turns them into something you can act on.

That’s a multi-year piece of work, and we’re not going to pretend otherwise or attach dates to it here.

What you can rely on is that both roadmaps keep moving. The Webexpenses roadmap continues as planned, and now has more investment and automation capability behind it.

The Zudello roadmap gets the same, plus a global partner and direct sales network to reach more finance teams than it could alone.

What this means for you over time

If you’re already a Webexpenses customer, the most immediate practical change is that accounts payable automation becomes something we will build and support directly.

If you’ve read our piece on the benefits of AP automation or you’re currently making the case internally for buy-in on an AP project, that case just got easier: the invoice processing, matching and approval work now sits inside the same group as your expense management system. Not a third-party integration.

Getting to know Zudello

If Zudello is new to you, here’s the pitch: it’s an AI-native platform built for the procure-to-pay cycle.

It extracts data from supplier invoices and other documents, codes it, runs two-way and three-way matching against purchase orders and goods received, and routes everything through configurable approval workflows and delegation of authority.

It handles multi-entity organisations, so a group with several legal entities or regions can run AP through one system rather than several. It’s ISO 27001 certified, which matters if your finance or IT team needs to sign off on where financial data lives and how it’s protected.

The reason this matters for you isn’t the technology itself. It’s what it removes from your week: manual invoice entry, chasing approvals over email, reconciling supplier statements by hand, and the fraud risk that comes with all of that being done manually in the first place.

If your finance team is currently doing accounts payable in spreadsheets, email threads and a scanner, this is the point at which that stops being necessary. And because every match and approval is logged, your auditors get a trail rather than a story.

We’ll be sharing more in the coming weeks on how you can get the most from both platforms, including how existing Webexpenses customers can get set up with Zudello.
