Convert Receipts Into Digital Claims In 20 Seconds | Webexpenses

How does Webexpenses’ expense tracker app compare?

With Webexpenses’ expense management app, an employee can now convert a paper receipt into a digital claim in less than 20 seconds.

This speedy feature is made possible by the introduction of ACR (Automatic Character Recognition) scanning technology.

Faster and more accurate than conventional OCR scanning, it allows the smartphone app to automatically capture all the details required for an expense report.

Turning paper receipts into a claim has always been a dreaded task for employees, that could often take hours to complete.

So to celebrate the speediness of our new system, we’ve been taking a look at some of the things that you can and can’t complete in 20 seconds.

Run 200 metres – record 19.9 seconds

If you happen to be the fastest athlete in the world then you’ll just about be able to cover a 200-metre distance within 20 seconds. The current record of 19.19 seconds is held by Usain Bolt and was set on August 20, 2009.

No female athlete has yet broken the 20-second barrier. The current world record holder is Florence Griffith-Joyner with a time of 21.34 seconds that was set in 1988.

Getting served at a fast food drive-thru – 226 seconds

A 2017 study into how long it takes to be served at a fast-food drive-thru restaurant found the average wait to be three minutes and 46 seconds. This means that it would take an employee around ten times longer to receive their meal than to claim for it using the Webexpenses expense tracker app.

Type out a text message – record 17 seconds

The average time it takes to write a text message is around 90 seconds but the official record was set in 2008 by Brazilian teenager, Marcel Fernandes. He took just 17 seconds to tap out the sample text which is provided by the Guinness Book of World Records:

“The razor-toothed piranhas of the genera Serrasalmus and Pygocentrus are the most ferocious freshwater fish in the world. In reality, they seldom attack a human.”

Eat a pizza – fastest 23.62 seconds

So far, the world’s best competitive eaters have been unable to beat the 20-second barrier when it comes to eating a pizza. The closest anyone has come was Kelvin Medina’s 2015 attempt in the Philippines in which he wolfed down a 12-inch pizza in 23.62 seconds.

Carry out an F1 pit stop – record 1.19 seconds

Before F1 prevented teams from refuelling during races in 2008, the average pitstop would take a leisurely 12-16 seconds. That would be enough time to change wheels and fill up the tank.

With no more refuelling, things have gone a little crazy. The current record for changing a full set of wheels is a blistering 1.19 seconds recorded by the Williams team during the 2016 European Grand Prix in Baku.

So the next time you’re faced with a bundle of paper receipts and the task of compiling an expense claim, remember that it doesn’t have to be such a painful process.

The addition of the ACR feature is part of Webexpenses’ ongoing mission to make managing expenses fast, simple and hassle-free. Find out more about ACR technology by booking a demo today.
